Mountain Lines

by: Jonathan Arlan

This is the true story of a self confessed unadventurous guy who decides on a whim to walk the 650 km from Lake Geneva. Like many of us who dream of more than the 9 to 5 existence he is surfing the web and is taken by a map of the trail through the French Alps. He is not the outdoorsy type and is reluctant right up to his first day into the hike. His naivete offers a fresh look at the simple joys of walking that get overlooked in accounts of experienced hikers tales.

He introduces us to the many and varied folk he meets along the way. His aches and pains are overcome as he slowly transforms from flabby desk jockey to sturdy hiker. He takes us through cute hamlets and wild peaks in some treacherous weather.

The tale is written with, candor, humour and vulnerability. I found it to be a charming tale without pretension.  I can't wait to read his next story.
